Daily Mass:   

Doneyloop:   Mon & Wed – 7.30pm;  Tues – 9am;  Thurs – 10am;  Fri – no Mass;

Sat – no morning Mass.

Castlefin:  Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri – 10am;  Tues – no Mass;  Sat - no morning Mass.

The 10am Mass in Doneyloop on Thursday will be offered for

the deceased members of the Derry Diocesan Society.

 

Readings for next Sunday’s Mass:

Fourteenth Sunday of the Year: 1^st Reading: (Zech 9:9-10). The messianic king is portrayed, not as a proud warrior, but as a humble and gentle champion of peace for all peoples.

2^nd Reading: (Rom 8:9-13). St Paul contrasts life ‘in the spirit’ with life ‘in the flesh’.

Gospel:  (Mt 11: 25-30). Jesus reveals the Father to those who are ‘little’, and lightens the burdens of those who are humble.

 

Feast Days of the Week:

Tues 28 June  St Irenaeus  (2^nd Cent martyr) He was bishop of Lyons and his writings give us an insight into the Church of the time.

Wed 29 June  Sts Peter and Paul  Apostles  two of the great pillars of the Church: Peter the Rock on which the Church was built and Paul the greatest of its missionaries. Both were martyred in Rome.

Fri 1 July  The Sacred Heart of Jesus  understood in the light of the Scriptures, the term “Sacred Heart of Jesus” denotes the entire mystery of Christ.

Sat 2 July  The Immaculate Heart of Mary  celebrated the day after the Solemnity of The Sacred Heart, this is a liturgical sign of their close connection.

 

Legion of Mary Meeting:   on Mondays in the Community Centre, Doneyloop, at 6pm,

    and in St Mary’s Church, Castlefin, on Wednesdays at 7pm. New members welcome.

Eucharistic Adoration:   in St Mary’s Church, on Tuesdays,   7.30pm – 9.30pm and

    in St Columba’s Church on Thursdays, 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Prayer Meeting: on Wednesdays in the Community Centre at 8.15pm.

Whist Drive:  in St Mary’s Hall on Wednesday at 8.30pm.  Scorecard: €2.

Bingo: in the Community Centre, Doneyloop, on Mondays at 9pm.

Looking Ahead:

Parish Mission: there will be a Parish Mission, covering both sides of the parish from 5 to 12 November. The Mission will be conducted by members of the Redemptorist Mission team.

 

Parish Silver Circles: all five draws will take place today in Castlefin after the 10am Mass and in Doneyloop after the 11am Mass. Promoters are asked to have cards returned in time for the draws.

 

St Safan’s NS: sincere thanks to the parents and everyone who contributed in so many ways to make our School Fair a huge success. It raised €1115 for school funds. Thanks also to Dermot McGranaghan who sponsored refreshments for our school sports.

 

Doneyloop Youth Club Ltd. Annual General Meeting is to be held on Thursday 7 July at 7.30pm in the Youth Club premises.

 

Castlefin Celtic FC: our AGM takes place on Tues 28 June in the CPI Centre at 8pm and everyone is welcome. The Club is running a Summer Camp from 11 to 14 July. Registration night is on Wed 29 June from 7pm to 8.30pm.

 

Queens University Belfast: Mass at the Catholic Chaplaincy for those graduating will be at 12.45pm from Monday 4 July to Friday 8 July.

 

Strictly Come Dancing Doneyloop and Clady will take place in the Community Centre, Doneyloop on Fri 1 July at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale at £10/€12, and numbers are limited. Contact Gerard Coyle, Gerard Foley or Clady school.

Reflection

As long as the sun comes over the hills, scatters the darkness,

and fills the world with light;

as long as the fields get green again, and the primroses and violets return;
